Poppy Seed isn’t just a bakery—it’s a love story. Not the mushy kind, but the kind where a chocolate chip cookie changes everything.
We started in another state, baking from our cottage kitchen for a fundraiser. People came for the cookies—and came back for more. That cookie—real butter, real vanilla, loads of chocolate chips—sparked a dream. And that dream followed us all the way to Boise, Idaho, where we built something brick-and-mortar and full of heart.
We aren’t the original owners of Poppy Seed, but we’ve shaped it into something uniquely us—warm, welcoming, and always creative. We treat this bakery like the dream it is. No uniforms, no stuffy vibes. Just a team that loves what we do and the people we serve.
We make almost everything from scratch: our creamy chicken salad, our meatballs and marinara, our tangy coleslaw and Russian dressing, our popkins (think elevated, savory hot pockets that could basically be a meal). Our scones are mixed by hand—never, ever touched by a machine. Our cinnamon rolls? So perfect someone once said they looked fake. And our cream pies? Little Debbie could never.

But what makes Poppy Seed really special? The people.
We love learning your coffee order (even though we don’t serve espresso here 😉). We ask questions, remember names, and try new things just because you suggested them. We believe food should be fun, comforting, nostalgic—and a little unexpected.
Now we’re growing. We’ve started wholesaling (hey, Magpie Play Cafe!) and we’re dreaming even bigger. But no matter how far we go, this place stays rooted in that same cozy kitchen feeling where it all began—with that cookie, that dream, and a whole lot of love.
Welcome to Poppy Seed. We’re so glad you’re here.
